Let the Bible Be Your Guide

The church of the Lord that meets at Forum has nothing to offer relating to religious information except the word of God. We have no catechism, no manual, no Confession of Faith--no creed book of any kind but the Bible; and we do not profess to have any latter-day revelation. In short, our “belief” or our “creed” is the Bible. If someone asks us what we believe about a particular doctrine we refer them to applicable passages in the New Testament that contain the “law of Christ” (Gal. 6:2).

Religious division abounds, and this is something that has contributed to unbelief (John 17:20, 21). Its result has affected sincere people to the point that they don’t know which way to turn. Some become so confused about religion and life that they see no reason to go on with life. Those who wish to please God need only to look to him, not men, for direction. Jeremiah wrote, “O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps” (Jer. 10:23).

With GPS directing us we can easily travel with accuracy to about any location on earth. But man will never have the capability to direct his steps in religious matters; this “direction” God has already provided. The way has been revealed and all one needs to do is read it. Our plea is that all disciples of Christ make the Bible the only creed and source of authority.

The Bible is not “a” guide to heaven; it is “the” guide. There is no other! We read that “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works” (2 Tim. 3:16-17).

If you believe the Bible is inspired then you have to believe that it alone has the information one needs to get right with God and have the hope of eternal life in heaven. Therefore, we plead, let the Bible be your guide.
